ABOUT THE ARTIST

"The meaning of color and shape make a more definite statement than words".

Through color, form, and light, images from my daily surroundings are transformed into painted worlds of hyper-realism. Quiet spaces in the natural world often inspire and intrigue me to explore further to satisfy these curiosities. My images emerge while focusing on nature and utilizing captured moments through a camera lens for reference. Timing is critical as a "snap shot" moment is rendered in the Northern California light radiating a luminescence that blankets over the image. The subject matter is then sketched and painted in either Oil or Watercolor.

Working often in large scale format combined with the vibrant use of color, soft transitions, and nearly undetectable brush work, creates a kinetic energy into these painted, microcosm environments. While my work is primarily based in Oil and Watercolor, I continue to explore other mediums and methodologies including sculpture.

I started doing a painting a day because I love pushing paint around on canvas.
